Billy was from Maesteg, Glamorgan, Wales. He married Sadie Williams who was a hairdresser from the same town. His in-laws were Gomer and Annie Williams of 14 MacGregor Row Maesteg. Gomer was a collier and then groundsman and member of the executive committee of Maesteg RFC. Gomer who lived next door to us gave me a Cardiff RFC jersey that had been left in the changing room by one of their players. It was small so probably had been worn by one of their wingers at the time possibly Sir Gerald Davies? When Billy retired he became a taxi driver in Huddersfield.
